Aims

The journal ‘BULGARIAN SPACE HORIZONS’ was founded in 2026 with the ambition to promote the Bulgarian efforts, contributions and collaborations to space education, research and technology development.

Scope

This is an interdisciplinary peer-reviewed journal accepting original contributions in the fields of:

  • space research
  • space engineering
  • astronomy and astrophysics
  • remote sensing
  • Sun and space weather

Publication types

  • Highlights of the year
    Important events, anniversaries, key discoveries, projects/updates during the year
  • Lecture Notes
    Manuscripts of high-school and university-level courses, writing in interesting and compelling way; possibility to update if needed
  • Living Reviews
    Invited research reviews on different space-related topics; Possibility to update when major improvements or/and discoveries in the particular field occur
  • Business
    Presentations of companies with space related activities
  • Research & Development
    Standard scientific research publications
  • Infrastructure
    Observatories, laboratories, planetariums, STEM/space/practice centers
  • History
    Historical overview of university/research entities, observatories, laboratories, science clubs, etc.
  • Letters
    Important announcements, novelties, infrastructural milestones, discoveries (6 pp.)
  • Interviews
    Interviews with the research & business figures

Volumes

The journal will publish one volume per year, consisting of two issues: Issue 1 covering January–June and Issue 2 covering July–December. Submission acceptance for each issue will close at the end of its respective period.

Submission process

Inital submission & revisions: a pdf version by e-mail 

After acceptance: submit the tex-file, bib and all images.

Copyrights: The corresponding author needs to sign a copyright transfer form (under preparation).

Journal fees

There are no publication fees for manuscript processing and publishing. 

The journal provides free-of-charge online access for its readers.
